CURRICULUM OF KANASU

Welcome to KANASU – Play & Learn Preschool Curriculum. It is packed full of hands-on, simple, play based activities and ideas for your preschoolers to do, both at home and in the classroom. Throughout this curriculum child will be playing his/her way through many of the early learning skills. Now let us move on to the play & learn centers followed at KANASU.

Block Center

Block play is a valuable learning tool for young children of all ages. By setting aside an area for block play within the child care space, child care providers are creating an area for imaginative cooperative play. Children playing with blocks are practicing a wide variety of developmental skills, including manipulating objects, creating structures, and working together.

Dramatic Play Center

Dramatic play allows children to express themselves and use creativity. It also introduces symbolic thinking and encourages cooperation among children. In a dramatic play center, children will often act out behaviors and actions they see in real life as well as make-believe situations.

Sensory Center

Sensory play is one of the best ways to aid in the development of your child. A sensory table is basically a table full of materials that get children to use all five senses. The table is set up to let children learn and engage their senses by interacting with everything that is being presented to them.

Art Center

The art center allows children to feel creative as they explore materials to express themselves. It also enhances children to make their own discoveries, either independently or together, and to feel confident in the choices they make.

Library Center

A preschool classroom library center is a clearly defined space that young children can use independently to browse books. The classroom library plays an important role in creating a high-quality early childhood learning experience that enriches language and vocabulary development.

Writing Center

Providing a writing center in the preschool classroom is a fun way to encourage young children to use writing tools. This area can have a variety of materials that strengthen the hands and fingers. The activities provided in such an area are not necessarily those that result in the printing word! They can, and SHOULD, help develop pre-writing skills and more.

Math Center

Incorporating a math and manipulatives learning center in preschool classroom will help you meet those goals while giving children the opportunity to improve their coordination, learn about counting and sorting, and expand their problem-solving skills. These hands-on learning opportunities will help children in their everyday lives and will prepare them to learn more advanced mathematical concepts in their future education.

Science Center

The science center is always a busy place. Children can observe, experiment, create, construct, classify, compare and question. Children are natural born scientists. They are curious and eager to explore the world and everything in it! As early childhood educators, it is our job to nurture their scientific spirit and help children form questions, investigations, collect data and share their conclusions.
